On Friday, February 28th, Juniata High School held a Pep Rally in celebration of the concluded winter athletics season. The rally was focused around a Senior vs. Faculty basketball game, one which the entire student body gathered to watch and cheer on. The male teachers who participated played the senior guys, and the female teachers played the ladies of the senior class. No basketball skills were required to play. The male faculty beat the seniors 10-8, and the female teachers beat the ladies 13-0. Another shutout for the faculty!
Student Council provided entertainment at halftime with a cup challenge. Similar to head, shoulders, knees and toes, this game involved quick reflexes and a bit of feistiness. Whenever the announcer shouted the word “Cup!” You had to quickly snatch the cup before your opponent, or you would lose and be eliminated. In the final match, Andrew Martinez and Emmy Freed competed for victory. In the end, Emmy proved to be quicker and snatched the cup away with no hesitation, proving herself to be the one deserving of the win!
Also present at the pep rally was the Pep Band, playing some favorite tunes to add some more adrenaline to the game. Although no one knows how their director didn’t get kicked out for trash-talking the refs (Mr. Eargle!).
