Track & Field TVL and District VI Championships
Both boys and girls had placements in the Tri-Valley League Championship. Freshman Jasper Shepps won in the high jump with a jump of 6-0, which was a PR by 4 inches! Picking up two 2nd place finishes was sophomore Wyatt Stroup in the 3200m(10:54) and 1600m(4:47.5) runs. He also finished 3rd in the 800 with a PR of 2:08.3. Also for the boys were Connor Boreman in the 100m dash(11.85), Joey Bomberger in the 1600m(4:47.6) and 3200m runs(10:54), Shepps running the 300 hurdles(42.53),Tyson Aurand flying in the pole vault(11-6), Wyatt Ehrenzeller in the jav throw(144-5), also picking up 3rd was the boys 4/800m relay with Stroup, Bomberger, Mason Beward, and Kade Wagner(9:22). Shepps placed fourth in the 110 hurdles, another 4th finish was the 4/100m relay with Boreman, Heath Hutchinson, Tayden Miller, and Talan Barndt(47.06). To end the boys was Jorge Valladares taking fifth place in pole vault with a height of 10-0. The boys finished with a point total of 57 points.
As for the girls, placing first in the pole vault was Ava Stoner with a height of 8-6. Grace Wagner placed 3rd in the vault, also third was Autumn Graybill with a height of 4-4 in the high jump. Mariska Beward finished 3rd in jav with a throw of 90-8. Amelia Smith placed 4th in the 300 hurdles with a dash of 52.85. Juniata girls finished with a point total of 20.75.
At the District VI championship, Juniata had a strong showing with Stoner taking 8th in the girls pole vault. Shepps took 8th in the 110 hurdles and 7th in the 300 hurdles. Wyatt Ehrenzeller also placed 8th in the javelin. Shepps flew into fourth in the high jump with a PR of 6-1. Wyatt Stroup finished 7th in the 1600 with a PR time of 4:32, and also placed third in the 3200 with a state qualifying time and placement of 9:47. Stroup will be the only athlete representing Juniata at states at Shippensburg University on Saturday.
