Last Friday, some of our very own 6th grade tigers got to take their musical talents all the way to West Branch High School where they met up with other top musicians in the area to put on a lovely performance. We are proud of our students, and we are thankful for the direction from our very own, Mr. Smith, for working so diligently to prepare our students for this opportunity. To understand a little more about the day, I asked Mr. Smith if he could give a little recap.
“This year EJES was able to bring four excellent 6th grade musicians to the PMEA District IV 6th Grade Band Fest at West Branch High School. The four selected to attend the fest were Victoria Schrack (french horn), Lillian Leach (flute), Cadence Austin (trumpet), and Piper Jamison (trombone). Conducted by long time Curwensville band director Mrs. Cindy Penvose, the students spent the day rehearsing with other top 6th grade musicians from Juniata, Centre, Clearfield, Clinton, Fulton, Huntingdon and Mifflin Counties. The day was capped off by a wonderful concert featuring a variety of middle school band repertoire with topics ranging from "Frogs" to "Samurai"! The EJES community should be proud of these four young musicians for their hard work, dedication and respectfulness at this year's event. Way to go!”
All of that sounds so fun, and we look forward to hearing them in the upcoming East Juniata concerts whether here or in high school. Congratulations, again to our four musicians - way to represent EJES and emulate tiger pride!
